Article Submission Guidelines

Fight Times e-Magazine is an independent publication with opportunities for responsible individuals or organisations to have input regarding news, views and articles whenever possible. The focus of content in Fight Times is currently New Zealand martial arts, combat sports, boxing, and wrestling clubs and practitioners, although many articles will be of international appeal, and submissions are welcome from authors from any country, style or code.

Fight Times Release Dates

As of March 2006 Fight Times has become a continuous publication. New articles will be shortly after they are received. Articles with highest priority will be those submitted via our online submission feature, which when approved should become readable to viewers within 7 days. Note: Articles submitted by email currently have no guaranteed time for being put online.

Articles for regular columns must be submitted 4 times per year (ie. once every 3 months) or must be submitted as regular content. If you would like a regular column then please contact us directly for details - emag@fighttimes.com.

Submission Methods

The preferred submission method of articles, photos, & artwork is via our online submission feature, which when approved should become readable to viewers within 7 days.

You may still email articles, photos, and artwork to emag@fighttimes.com however we do not guarantee any timeframe for inclusion for articles via this method.

Article Format for emailed submissions

Articles may be submitted in following formats (listed in order of preference):

  • Rich Text Format (.rtf)
  • Microsoft Word (.doc)
  • Plain Text (.txt)
  • HTML (.htm / .html)

Photos and artwork may embedded in documents, although it is preferred that they are sent separately and their placement marked in the text.

Note: Please do not send articles in Microsoft Works format. Save your documents as Rich Text Format, and attach any photos and artwork to the email, do not embed them in the document.

Additional Article Information

You are welcome to submit the following information with your articles:

  • Links - to websites related to your submission
  • Club or Association Logo (if you have permission to use it)
  • Keywords - a list of any keywords relevant to your article.
  • Author Biography & Author Photo (currently submit this via email)

Photo / Image / Artwork Format

Photos may be submitted in the following formats (listed in order of preference):

  • JPEG (.jpeg / .jpg)
  • GIF (.gif)

Photos for inclusion with articles should be scanned in colour (when possible) at a minimum resolution of 150 DPI (dots per inch). The maximum dimensions for photos are:

Portrait: 400 pixels high
Landscape: 400 pixels wide

Captions should be submitted for each photo. 

Logos and Artwork may be submitted in the following formats (listed in order of preference):

  • GIF (.gif)
  • JPEG (.jpeg / .jpg)
  • PNG (.png)

Advertising Submission Guidelines

Advertising can be started at any time. All prices for advertising are for adverts that are submitted completed. Fight Times can quote on the graphic design of advert images and web pages, or for more comprehensive advertising needs including entire website or web marketing campaigns.

A range of free advertising options currently exist on Fight Times including the following:

  • Free club directory listing (currently New Zealand only)
  • Free events calendar entry (currently New Zealand only)
  • Free club logo placement on submitted articles e.g. WAKO, TUNZ,
  • Free link to your website or parent organisation's websites from submitted articles e.g. Vodafone Warriors, Elite Thai Kickboxing

To be eligible for these free options you must have permission to use the logos you submit.

The Fight Times editorial team reserves the right to reject any submitted articles, photos, or artwork that doesn't fit the submission guidelines and editorial policies.
